Home automated system using Bluetooth and an android application
Control is communicated to the FPGA from a mobile phone through its Bluetooth interface. This results in a simple, cost effective, and flexible system, making it a good candidate for future smart home solutions. The system is based on Home Automation Protocol , developed by the authors in order to facilitate the master–slave communication in a home automation network . A user interface on the PC offers device registration, control as well as diagnostic utilities. In this block diagram microcontroller is programmed in C language and used to turn on and off the appliances, which are connected through relays, when we send the commands through Bluetooth from a mobile phone. A feedback circuit is also designed and implement to check the current status of the device after it receives the command from mobile phone.
Smartphone application is used for serial communication between smartphone and Bluetooth module which is further connected with Arduino board. The Bluetooth wireless technology is set to revolutionize the way people perceive digital devices in our homes and office environment. In this project, a home automation system is designed which can be controlled by any smartphone. The smart phone sends control signals to switch home appliances ON or OFF by an android app through Bluetooth interface. The boards can be assembled by hand or purchased preassembled; the open source IDE can be downloaded for free. It has 14 digital input/output pins , 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz ceramic resonator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started.

Installing a bluetooth home-based security system is easy as it does not require any wiring, so you don't need to drill walls and doors. Instead, their sensors are stuck easily on walls with the help of adhesive tape. Conventional alarm systems require wires to transmit signals from the sensors to the control panel. Unfortunately, a burglar can cut these wires, rendering the alarm system useless.

This system can be used as a test bed for any appliances that requires on-off switching applications without any internet connection. This is primarily due to the characteristics of each technology such as access mechanism, frame structure, peak transmit power and frequency of operation.
